Imaging PB G4 1.5Ghz by Firewire
Imaging Macintoshes with OS X without NetBoot Any Mac that is older than a G4 cannot NetBoot in our current environment. This is due to firmware issues with OS X 10.3 Server and cannot be fixed. Here is how you can image an older Mac without using NetBoot.
1. Boot the Macintosh with a firewire hard drive running OS X 10.3 or later.
2. Log in with an administrator account to the firewire drive.
3. Mount the imaging share at afp://cupertino.its.carleton.edu/Imaging (use the same username and password that has always been used for Mac imaging).
4. Go to the NetRestore folder in the imaging share and run NetRestore. NetRestore documentation can be found in the Resources folder in the NetRestore folder. This is slow and clunky compared to NetBoot but it'll do the job.
