++Budget: Cris Jensen reported a budget is expected to be presented to Administrative Council by the end of the term. Adjustments will be made because of the large first-year class and increased financial aid needs. There were seven areas of concern identified including: Financial Aid, Competitive Faculty Salary and Benefits, Capital Budgeting, Library Collections, Size of the Student Body, Size of the Faculty, Bonding Service, and Debt Service.
A long-term plan will be discussed later in the year.
++ Salary and Benefits: Linda Mueller reported that four areas of concern have been identified which they will discuss as a priority for the upcoming budget: Percentage Increase in Salaries, Possible Movement Within a Salary Range, Four Weeks of Vacation after Ten Years of Service, and Sick Hour Conversion to Vacation. Linda asked that anyone with knowledge of sites regarding benefits for other institutions please contact her with that information so she may check on them.
++Fred Rogers spoke regarding the acquisition of the middle school which will be called the Carleton Center for the Arts, the concerns of heating costs for the upcoming winter and the over-enrollment of this year’s first year class. Administrative Council will discuss the issue of whether to close campus offices for the November 30th Retreat at their next meeting.
