Volunteer Opportunities
- Christmas sharing: drop off new (not used) scarves, mittens, gloves, hats, books, and stocking stuffers for children in the Northfield Community at the SAC table at the Craft Fair on Friday, November 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to staff the table; please contact Christine Krejci, Development Services, x7108. Sponsors: Staff at Carleton (SAC) and Northfield Community Action Center.
- Ring the bell for the Salvation Army in Rice County for a two-hour slots on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and every Friday and Saturday until Christmas. Volunteers are needed at Econo-Foods and Cub Foods in Northfield. If interested, contact Sheriff Richard Cook at 507 332-6012 or email him at: <rcscook@co.rice.mn.us>.
- Deliver "Meals on Wheels." Carleton College sponsors the month of April. Volunteers may contact Lorie Tuma, Psychology department, x4380.
- Northfield Area United Way has numerous volunteer opportunities. Visit their website for more information.
- The Northfield Public Library provides a homebound book selection and delivery service to people who are unable to travel to the library. Volunteers deliver and pick up items about every six weeks. To volunteer, call the Library at 507-645-6606 and ask for Barb, homebound services coordinator.
- Northfield Community Action Center: To volunteer with various services provided by the CAC, go to: http://www.northfieldcac.org/get-involved/volunteer. Programs include: the clothes closet, food shelf, CAC office help, housing services, and Christmas sharing. Contact Judy Bickel, at 664-3550.
