Struggle for Sustainability on the Gulf Coast

When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans "it was like filling up a bath tub without a drain and taking the water out with a straw...My family has lived here the past 200 years--where am I supposed to go?" --New Orleans Citizen.

How do we respond to a National Disaster?

Over the break, ENTS faculty and staff visited the Gulf Coast for one week. Check out this power point to read what we learned from the Army Corps of Engineers, local Geologists, the NAACP, and local environmental and volunteer groups.

The winners were Goodhue at 22.2 percent and Asia House at 40.1 percent, reports facilities communications specialist Gloria Heinz.

Carleton Students Teach Kids About Conservation

“Can someone remind me what we’ve talked about, what decisions we’ve been making?” Carleton junior Cailey Gibson of Shrewsbury, Vermont, asks the room full of eager grade-schoolers.

Non-renewable energy, organic versus corporate farms, and healthy snacks, answer the students in Ellen Paulsen’s fourth and fifth grade class at Nerstrand Elementary. Paulsen’s students are having their last Kids for Conservation class and reflecting on what they’ve learned.
