Purchased electricity currently accounts for about 55% of Carleton’s greenhouse gas emissions, and heating is responsible for about 35%. In order for Carleton to reduce its carbon footprint, the college will have to conserve energy, increase efficiency, and purchase electricity from less intensive sources.
