Transparency

The Investment Committee supplies CRIC (the Committee for Responsible Investment at Carleton) with an annual report on the school’s investments. CRIC uses this report to come up with proxy voting recommendations. Neither student nor faculty members of CRIC are allowed to disclose this investment information to the rest of the Carleton community. Because some of the investments are constantly changing, CRIC has no way of knowing whether the school will hold onto shares in any company for a significant portion of time. As such, CRIC may end up creating a proxy voting proposal for a company in which the school may no longer hold stock by the time the proposal is complete.
