All persons affiliated with Carleton College (staff, faculty, and students) are bound by the Policies on Sexual Misconduct endorsed by the Carleton Board of Trustees. These policies may be viewed on-line in the Student Handbook.

Carleton College employs a team of specialists whose responsibilities include oversight of all components of the sexual harassment and sexual assault policies. The Advisor to the College, Joanne Jirik Mullen, is charged with coordinating the overall College policy on sexual harassment and assault, overseeing college-wide education and training, providing legal, technical, and investigative support, and investigating faculty and staff complaints.

At The Wellness Center, counselors provide confidential support for individual students who have either experienced sexual harassment or assault, or been accused of violating the sexual misconduct policies. Counselors also provide consultation services for students, faculty and staff who have concerns about other students, and coordinate educational programming for the broader student body. When calling to schedule an appointment, please inform the receptionist that you are calling regarding a sexual harassment or assualt issue, to assure that you receive an appointment as quickly as possible. Nurse practitioners at The Wellness Center provide free, confidential medical care for students who have been sexually assaulted (See the Wellness Center's staff page for contact information.) This care includes treatment for minor injuries, pregnancy prevention, and STI testing/treatment. Serious physical trauma will be referred to the Northfield Hospital Emergency Department. Students may also receive a full range of medical care at Northfield Hospital following an assault; services for students will be paid for by the College. Treatment options at the hospital include testing for the presence of date rape drugs, treatment of physical trauma, pregnancy prevention, and STI testing/treatment. Additionally, trained nursing personnel at Northfield Hospital can perform an evidentiary exam to collect evidence, should a victim wish to consider pursuing a legal complaint of sexual assualt.
