After Hours and Emergency Information

The Wellness Center is open 8:30 AM – 12 noon and 1PM-5PM Monday through Friday. The following is information about how to access services after hours. Students should take their insurance card with them whenever they access off-campus medical care.

Mental Health Care:

If you need mental health services after hours, a Wellness Center psychologist is on-call 24 hours a day for emergency phone consultation. To access the on-call psychologist, contact Carleton Security(x4444) and tell them that you'd like to speak to the psychologist on-call. Security will take your name and number and will contact the psychologist, who will then call you back.

Physical Health Care:

If you require emergency medical care, call 911 or go the Northfield Hospital Emergency Room. For non life-threatening emergencies contact Carleton Security(x4444), as in some circumstances, they can assist in transporting students to the hospital. The Northfield City Hospital has emergency services open 24 hours a day. The Allina Medical Clinic, Family Health Medical Clinic , and Northfield Urgent Care are also available for urgent services.

To access a health care provider/doctor and clinics on the weekend:

Allina Medical Clinic is open on Saturday from 8AM-5PM - ph# 507-663-9000.
Northfield Urgent Care is open Saturday 9pm-5pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm. (507-664-9999).
If you require services at any other time on the weekend, you will need to go to the emergency room at Northfield Hospital.

Emergency Contraception:

Emergency contraception (Plan B) is available over the counter at local pharamacies (during regular pharmacy hours.)

Questions about symptoms but not sure of where to go or what to do?

  • Allina Medical Clinic (507-663-9000). Call for an appointment on Saturdays 8AM-5PM, If you require services after these hours, and you are an established patient of the clinic, call 507-663-9000, and the answering service will direct further.
  • Family Health Medical Clinic (507-646-1494). You will get a voicemail message allowing you to speak with a nurse regarding your questions or symptoms. Press 1 to access a triage nurse that can assist you. If you want to speak with a doctor, follow the prompts on the voice mail.
  • Women’s Health Center/Northfield Hospital (507-646-1478). A triage nurse will help you decide if you need to go to the emergency room or if one of the physicians will call you back.
  • Northfield Urgent Care (507-664-9999). Clinic Hours: Monday thru Friday 8am-8pm; Saturday 9pm-5pm; Sunday 12pm-5pm
