Support Groups
The Wellness Center offers counseling groups throughout the academic year. If you would like a counseling group for an area of interest, please talk with any of the psychologists in the Wellness Center.

The current counseling groups are:
Personal Growth Group
A group for men and women who want to improve how they relate and communicate with peers, friends, and family. The group offers a safe place to explore new ways of communicating and coping with difficult issues while having the support of other students. Personal growth groups are typically 5 to 8 members plus facilitator/s. Personal growth groups run in winter and spring terms and start the second week of each term. Students interested in participating must meet with a group facilitator to discuss group norms and to ensure personal goals match with group process. Personal growth group may accept new members until the third week of classes. Group time for each term varies depending on student schedules. Please call the Wellness Center for group times, x4080.
Off-Campus Programs Re-entry Support Group
A group for women and men who have returned in the current term from an Off-campus Program. The group will focus on issues associated with returning to Carleton including but not limited to changes in relationships, boredom, feelings of alienation, difficulty readjusting to US or Carleton culture, and talking about your off-campus experiences. The group will meet weekly for five weeks beginning the 2nd week of the term. Contact Dr. Jennifer Gildner jgildner@carleton.edu for more information.
Sexual Assault & Assault Survivor Group
A group for women who have experienced sexual abuse or assault, whether as children or adults. This will be a place for women to explore their feelings, share their experiences, and receive support as they work through the healing process. Eating Disorders Group
A group for those needing support and wanting to discuss the challenges that occur around issues of eating and body image. Please contact psychologist Marit Lysne at mlysne@carleton.edu or The Wellness Center x4080 for more information.

Mastering The Transition To College
A forum for first-year students to discuss topics including (but not limited to): coping with homesickness, developing new friendships, managing academic stress, and re-defining family relationships.
Men
A group for men who want to discuss concerns about relationships, self-esteem, stress, and more.Grief Support Group
A group for men and women dealing with the death of someone close to them. While some information on typical stages and manifestations of grief will be provided, the majority of the time will be available for exploration of members' unique experiences and concerns.General Relationships Group
A group for men and women who want to explore the impact of their families on their current functioning in your daily life, including how you deal with stress and how you are in relationships.Overcoming Social Anxiety
A group for students who would like to receive support and learn specific techniques for reducing their anxiety in social settings. Topics covered in this group include: theories of anxiety, relaxation techniques, conversation skills, class participation, public speaking, and steps to building closer relationships.
