2012 Winter Issue 8 (March 2, 2012)
This was the fifth straight year that Carleton, currently ranked No. 21 among Division III programs, has had the opportunity to play two levels up.
Five members of the Carleton College basketball team were recognized when the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its season-ending basketball award winners. Senior Caleb Rosenow and junior Tom Sawatzke were both named to the All-MIAC first team.
One of the most explosive players in the league, junior Akemi Arzouman was a repeat selection by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).
Despite three more hits by Kiyota Gomi ‘12 and Ray Yong ‘14 reaching base in five of his six plate appearances, the Carleton College baseball team found runs hard to come by during a late-night Metrodome doubleheader.
The meet kicked off with some field events, as Katie Richards ’15 improved her vault by a foot and Megan Erlandson ’12 vaulted the highest she has this season to win the event.
Bobby Davis ‘13 holds the second-fastest 5,000-meter run time in the MIAC at 15:23.06 as he seeks to improve on his fifth-place finish in the event at last year’s MIAC Championships.
The Knights will again rely on their dominant performances in the distance events, led for the fourth straight year by All-American Simone Childs-Walker ‘12.
