To encourage participation in this year's Census, Academic Civic Engagement is collaborating with the Art Gallery's Latin American Posters Exhibit in sponsoring a Census poster competition inspired by the rich tradition of this form of visual communication. The winner will receive $200 and will have their poster distributed across Rice County to encourage residents to fill out their Census forms. The Census is a crucial determinant of political power and social funding, and a low count in Rice County means that resources aren't provided to those in our region who need them.
Entries must be submitted via e-mail to Laurel Bradley by February 22nd. Head to ACE's webpage about the competition to learn more about why the Census is important to Northfield and Rice County and for further guidelines and tips. Also make sure to look at the posters currently on display in the Library and Art Gallery for some inspiration and examples of great visual art.
