In December, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation made two awards to the College:

  • Through the Faculty Life Cycles program, Carleton and Macalester Colleges will receive $422,000 to support faculty career enhancement activities over a three-year span. Carleton and Macalester are already engaged in a range of separate and collaborative endeavors on the two campuses to further the goal of ensuring that the two colleges' faculty are generating and utilizing the best possible practices in liberal arts education.
  • Through the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship program, Carleton will receive $240,000 over three years to offer fellowships to minority students, and others with a demonstrated commitment to eradicating racial disparities, who intend to pursue PhDs in the arts and sciences.
