Movement for Justice in El Barrio

Are you interested and invested in issues of immigration, activism, and urban spaces? Wanting to know more about collective organizing, horizontal and transborder activisms, and the intersections of housing justice, race, and class?

 Then please join us for a dinner, film screening and discussion on Monday, October 10.

At 5 pm we will have an informal dinner (El Triunfo) in AGH meeting room with Juan Haro, a representative of Movement for Justice in El Barrio, a group in NY that has been fighting against the displacement and marginalization of immigrant communities in NYC.

At 7 pm (Olin 149) we will show the brand-new film (30 min) about these Latina Immigrant women who make up Movement for Justice in El Barrio: 'Women Fighting for El Barrio, the Community & Another World'

 Immediately following the film we will have a discussion that brings in MN voices for change: Anain Lozano Cruz, a tenant leader who participates in Inquilinxs Unidxs por Justicia will be here, as well as Jennifer Arnold, a representative of the organization. Wintana Melekin, representing MN Neighborhoods Organizing for Change
