Tim Lloyd, Class of 1941 Professor of Art and the Liberal Arts, Emeritus, has learned that his sterling silver tea pot, recently acquired by the Smithsonian, is now on exhibit in the second floor gallery of the Renwick. The piece, “Kitano Fantasy” is being shown with other craft work from the Smithsonian American Art Museum Renwick Gallery’s permanent collection.

Assistant Professor of Art, was recently invited to participate in The Minnesota Women Ceramic Artists Exhibition in Minneapolis. A review of the exhibition, including a photograph of one of Connole's pieces, appears in the March issue of Ceramics Monthly magazine.

Linda Rossi, Associate Professor Art and Art History, received an Artist Initiative Grant through the Minnesota State Arts Board to fund a collaborative installation with Fred Hagstrom, Rae Schupack Nathan Professor of Art. The installation reflects on the historical use of visual aids in the science classroom.

Baird Jarman has exhibition reviews appearing in two current journal issues. The first is a review of the Milwaukee Art Museum exhibition "A Revolutionary in Milwaukee: The Designs of George Mann Niedecken" appearing in the current issue of "Design and Culture." The other is a review of the Block Museum exhibition "Design in the Age of Darwin: From William Morris to Frank Lloyd Wright" in the current issue of The Journal of Modern Craft.

Rae Schupack Nathan Professor of Art, had two pieces win awards in recent exhibitions. His artist's book "Can't Win" received a cash award at a show called "The Assignment" at 23 Sandy Gallery in Portland, Oregon. His book also won an award at the 20th National Los Angeles Printmakers Exhibition in December.

Beth Lo, a ceramic artist and professor of art, came to Carleton on Monday, Oct 5, to share her work with the Carleton community. In the two and a half hours that Lo spent with the class, she demonstrated throwing porcelain vessels, trimming, carving, and decorating with slip. As she worked, she talked about her experience with clay and her connection with the craft.
