Baird presented "The Melodramatic Mode of Reportage: Thomas Nast as a Civil War Illustrator" in the "Seeing the Civil War" panel of the Midwest Art History Society annual conference in Columbus, Ohio on March 21st.

Mel Griffin's work is featured on the March 2013 issue cover of March Ceramics Monthly. An article is inside entitled "Gesture in Drawing and Form."

Stephen Mohring, Associate Professor of Art, designed the set for Ten Thousand Things' recent production of Measure for Measure and for The Seven. Mohring will present a talk about Carleton College's Sustainable Crafts Program at the College of William & Mary on March 21 before the opening of  'arboreal,' a solo show of his sculpture, March 21 through April 18.

An MPR program ArtHounds on public radio on Feb. 14 featured information regarding the "Print Profs" exhibition at Highpoint Center for Printmaking. Podcasts of past programs are available at MPR. 

Senior Studio Art Major Gabrielle Peterson curated a show of works by Carleton's studio majors at "High Noon" on Division Street. The show, called "Cold," opened January 26th for a month. It featured all media.

The exhibit from the University of Virginia is displayed at Carleton.

Kelly Connole's work is included in "Minnesota Funk" at the University of Minnesota

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities (ACTC) will jointly host a day-long symposium for emerging art historians in the Twin Cities on April 13, 2013.

Each participating college/university is invited to select one undergraduate (plus a graduate student for those institutions with graduate art history programs) to present ongoing research that is related, in some way, to an artwork or collection of works in the permanent collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
