Fully Funded Biomedical Sciences Education PhD at University of Edinburgh (deadline extended) Outside link
10 April 2024The University of Edinburgh is seeking a student who would like to do a PhD on Biomedical Sciences education, specifically on the topic of international and transnational education. The PhD is funded through a partnership with the Zhejiang-Edinburgh Institute in China. The student can have a broad STEM (biology, medicine, sciences) or educational background (or psychology, sociology, etc.), but will be keen to contribute to biomedical education.

The Lee Lab of Neural Systems and Behavior at St. Olaf College seeks a full-time Post-Baccalaureate Research Technician. We use cutting-edge research tools, such as quantitative behavioral tracking, laser vibrometry, and electrophysiology, to investigate auditory perception in the acoustic parasitoid fly Ormia ochracea, which relies on their sense of hearing to locate field cricket hosts by eavesdropping on cricket calling songs. Salary $43,680.

University of San Diego Paid Summer Undergraduate STEM Education Research Program (application deadline 4/15/24) Outside link
18 March 2024Do you want to learn how to make a difference in STEM Education? The VERSA (Virtual Education Research in STEM Academy) @ University of California, San Diego program is looking for undergraduate students who want to conduct research on STEM education at the college level this summer. Our faculty mentors study teaching and learning in a variety of STEM disciplines, including astronomy, biology, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and psychology. It is a hybrid program: the first and last full weeks are in person, while the other weeks are virtual- meaning you can do research from home! The program is 9 weeks, from June 20-Aug. 20. Each VERSA student will receive a $5,400 stipend and an additional $1,255 allowance for housing and food. Applications due April 15, 2024. -
If you are about to graduate and want to get some research experience before applying to grad or med school the Hemmers Lab at Duke University is looking for highly motivated individuals that can commit to at least two years of research contribution. You will learn how to work with mice, isolate cells from various tissues, perform cellular analysis by flow cytometry, and immunofluorescent imaging. You also have the opportunity to audit graduate student level immunology classes and try your hand in some computational data analysis. Research Assistant Internship in the Escolano Lab at the Wistar Institute (application deadline 3/10/24) Outside link
1 March 2024The Escolano Lab investigates the use of sequential immunization as a novel vaccination strategy aiming to induce broadly neutralizing antibodies against highly diverse viruses. Using HIV-1 as a model virus, state-of-the-art technologies, and animal models including wild-type mice, transgenic mice, and rhesus macaques, the laboratory studies the humoral and cellular immune responses to sequential immunization. The goal of this research is to identify guidelines for the design of vaccination approaches to induce long-lasting protection against highly mutating viruses in humans.
