Reaction Discovery With Pincer Complexes
Chemical reactions can be viewed as sequences of bonds being broken and formed in a certain order. Discovery of new chemical transformation usually requires either new elementary ways of breaking or making chemical bonds or a new way to combine the known elementary steps. In our research, pincer ligands have been invaluable as tools that permit studying elementary reactions at transition metal centers in well-defined environments. The presentation will focus on design strategies for rigid pincer ligands and their application in the synthesis of unusual metal complexes, studies of elementary reactions, and catalysis.
