  • Still looking for that exciting summer job?  Well, look no further!  Contact Mike Tie ( x4067 CMC305).  Mike is looking for three Assistant System Administrators to help him setup labs and classrooms for the upcoming school year. There will be some programming, writing documentation, building web pages, lots of software installations and imaging.  Help faculty and summer researchers with anything and everything related to computers.  You'll work with linux, Windows, and OSX. No experience needed; you will be trained as you go. The positions are budgeted for 10 weeks of the summer, and that leaves you time to still enjoy a summer vacation.  And best of all, you get to continue working for Mike during the school year.

    Junior Software Engineer



    - Design and implement solutions to problems across the company, varying by project area

    - Share ideas, ask questions, and manage development through project completion

    - Collaborate with a distributed, asynchronous team for design decisions, development, and code review

    Required Qualifications:

    - BS/BA in Computer Science, or related field or relevant experience

    - Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: C, Python, Java, and/or JavaScript Desired Skills: Skills will vary depending on your experience and or/interests, but in general:

    - Basic software engineering principles and tools (git, code review, automated testing, etc.)

    - Knowledge of or interest in privacy and network security

    - Experience with common libraries and tools in your area of interest or specialty. e.g. Django/Flask/Rails for backend web development, Angular/Ember/React for frontend web development, libcork/glib/APR/STL for embedded development, etc.

    - Experience with traditional SQL databases or NoSQL solutions

    Junior Network Data Analyst


    Do you love getting knee deep in data? RedJack seeks a Network Data Analyst to analyze and implement analytic tools and techniques for our clients using large (> 1 TB/day) volumes of data from multiple sources, including NetFlow, tcpdump, server logs, and server host data. You will be expected to collect data from multiple sources, create and apply analytic techniques to the data, in order to drive decisions about securing and controlling large enterprise networks. Ideally, you are flexible, willing to quickly adapt to changing data sources and tools, and are excited to learn and use new data sources and tools on a regular basis.

    You should have training in an empirical or analytical field (e.g. computer science, physics, computational physics, engineering or statistics), communications skills (the ability to present, explain technical details to a nontechnical audience, and write reports), and light development skills (preferably in C, Python, and R). You should also have some interest in or familiarity with network traffic and computer security.

    Required Qualifications:

    - BS/BA in Computer Science, Physics, Math, Statistics, or Engineering

    - Proficiency in one or more programming languages (preferred candidates include C, R, Python)

    - Ability to remain flexible in a changing environment

    Desired skills:

    - Interest in or familiarity with network traffic and computer security.

  • Spend your summer with Microsoft! The Student Experience Program (SEP) is a paid work experience program designed to provide recent high school graduates – recent college graduates opportunities to work on Microsoft’s Fargo, N.D. campus during the summer. This program allows students to gain real-life working experience, while learning about the technology industry.

    Program Specifics

    · SEP opportunities are open to newly enrolled college freshman through recent college graduates.

    · SEP candidates are hired as vendor staff (A-) through Kelly Service but work within Microsoft teams.

    · SEP positions typically run June-August and work 40 hours weeks, but this is flexible and up to manager discretion.

    · SEP is a paid program in which students receive $12/hr.
