Computer Science Lunch Table
Join us at noon on Thursday, October 2, in LDC 104 for the inaugural Computer Science Lunch Table. All CS majors, faculty, and students enrolled in a CS class are invited to attend as we meet new majors, catch up with the old ones, and say hello to the profs. Besides just socializing, this event will be an opportunity to engage in some technical discussion. Our first topic will be Google's browser, Chrome, and the future of the web. We hope to make this the first in a series of events throughout the term, so we'd love to see you there!
If you're interested in a little background, you can read a comic strip prepared by Google detailing their vision for Chrome and the web:

Programming Contest Kickoff
Once again, Carleton will be assembling teams of students to participate in the ACM Programming Contest. The experience is totally fun, and you get to practice different styles of programming than you may experience in your courses. The contest itself will be held on Saturday, November 15, at another college somewhere in our general vicinity. Want to participate and show how awesome Carleton is? Contact Dave Musicant (email dmusican) with questions or to express your interest by the end of the day on Wednesday, September 24. If you want to learn more about the contest in general, check out the contest website. You don't need to put in a lot of time into this: showing up at the main event in November and having fun is what matters most.
