French & Francophone Activities and French Language Associate
Students at Carleton have been enthusiastically engaged in a variety of extracurricular pursuits which promote French and Francophone cultures. They can practice their French when they attend the weekly French Table (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12-1 pm, Language and Dining Center; all French levels welcome), watch movies, celebrate la fête du muguet, hold poetry readings, make crêpes, perform French farces, organize West African soirées, participate in outings to the Twin Cities, interact with distinguished visitors from around the Francophone world, and much more.
Every year, the department hires a French native speaker who organizes a variety of activities in Parish House, a block and a half from campus. Alex Saku is the 2015-16 French Language Associate. In conjunction with the Conseil des étudiants (Student Council), he helps the department deepen interest in French and Francophone cultures among students in the classroom and beyond.
Fall 2015: Language Associate's Weekly Office Hours
Alex holds weekly office hours in the Library (French Skills Center)
