French & Francophone Activities & Events
[Parish House]
Students at Carleton have been enthusiastically engaged in a variety of extracurricular pursuits which promote French and Francophone cultures. They can practice their French when they attend the weekly French Table (Tue and Th 12-1 pm at the LDC; all French levels welcome), watch movies, celebrate la fête du muguet, hold poetry readings, make crêpes, perform French farces, organize West African soirées, participate in outings to the Twin Cities, interact with distinguished visitors from around the Francophone world, and much more.
Every year, a native French-speaker lives at the French House, which is located in Parish House, a block and a half from campus. Alexie Baldovi is the 2012-13 French Language Associate. In conjunction with the Conseil des étudiant/e/s (Student Council), she helps the department to deepen interest in French and Francophone cultures among students in the classroom and beyond.
Alexie also holds weekly office hours in LDC 201 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (7-9 pm), and on Thursdays (8-9 pm).
Questions? Suggestions? Please contact Alexie at abaldovi@carleton.edu or at x5892. She'd also love to hear from you if you'd like to volunteer at French and Francophone events. The Conseil des étudiant/e/s will very much appreciate your contributions!
