William F. Woehrlin
In 1962 William F. Woehrlin (Bill) joined the History department faculty as a specialist in the history of the Soviet Union. He was a member of the department for thirty-one years (1962-1993), he chaired the History department from 1968 through 1971, chaired the Carleton faculty from 1970-72, and served on the search committees that brought Presidents Howard Swearer and Robert Edwards to Carleton in 1970 and 1977. Attached are two articles that I think help somewhat to illustrate the reasons for Bill's enormous popularity as a History professor here at Carleton better than anything I can say.
