HISTORY FIELDS to choose from

JUNIOR YEAR COLLOQUIUM (History 298)

COMPS

History 100 A&I and WR (Writing Requirement) Seminars count toward your field requirements.
History 298 and 400 do not count in the fields, but they do count towards your overall credits.
History 395 is the only course that fulfills two of the major requirements--it counts toward a field and also for the Senior Seminar requirement. However, History 395 only counts as 6 credits in the major, even though it fulfills two requirements - to obtain credit for four courses, you must take four courses.

COURSE NUMBERS AND SEQUENCES. Courses numbered below 200 are open to first year students. First-year students may register in courses numbered 200 and above with written permission of the instructor. It is recommended that students planning to major in history take History 100 and one or two other courses during their first year. History majors interested in study and research in a major library should consider the Newberry Library Seminar Program. History Department Resources Page, Off-Campus Studies Programs credit
