    • Chinese Proficiency Tests
      • http://www.hsk.org.cn/Index_E.aspx Official website for the H.S.K (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) the Chinese proficiency test in PRC for international learners. The H.S.K is offered at many different levels: Threshold, Basic, Elementary-Intermediate, and Advanced. Information on the Basic, Elementary-Intermediate and Advanced tests is written in English, but revised information (more up-to-date) and information regarding the Threshold test is written in Chinese. This website also provides information on the C-Test: a relatively new proficiency test testing candidate’s ability to use Chinese in a business setting. This site provides mock tests, test registration and test site information. You can register for tests in the United States online at many different test centers around the United States. The HSK is offered twice a year at the University of Minnessota.

      • http://www.hskflashcards.com Vocabulary lists for the HSK. Since there is no official HSK vocab list available, this vocabulary list has been compiled many unofficial lists available on the web. There is no guarantee that this is completely up- to-date, purchasing the current official H.S.K vocabulary books published by the Beijing Language and Culture University Press.

      • www.tw.org/huayu Official website for the T.O.P (Test of Proficiency – Huayu) the Chinese proficiency test in Taiwan for international learners. The site provides mock tests, vocabulary lists, test registration and test site information, and links to university programs in Taiwan (Chinese programs, engineering, medicine etc.)

      • http://www.ctcfl.ox.ac.uk/PCR/PCR%20index.htm Online website for Chinese learners at the University of Oxford. Excellent grammar review section with clear explanations and examples.
      • http://chinese.rutgers.edu/content_cs.htm University of Rutgers website for Chinese learners. Good for practicing Chinese reading comprehension. Includes texts covering many different topics; these texts are accompanied by vocabulary lists.
      • Quia:  a website for practicing grammar, vocabulary, and a host of other useful things. You can find practice quizzes and online practice exercises for a host of languages including French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Russian, Greek, Hebrew, and even Danish, Dutch, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, and Turkish to name a few. To access this website go to www.quia.com and click on "Quia Web." Don't be fazed by the username and password requirement - you don't need either! By simply clicking on shared activities near the bottom right of the page you will have access to these great resources for free! Simply do a search for whatever it is you are looking for or feel like practicing.
