3/20/08:
Great news! The Carleton Linguistics Program is happy to announce that we are seeking candidates to teach three courses in phonetics/phonology during the 2009 Winter/Spring terms:
The Linguistics Program at Carleton College seeks to hire a specialist in Phonetics/Phonology for a half-year visiting position (rank open), beginning in early January and ending in June, 2009. The successful candidate will teach three courses over the winter and spring trimesters. In the winter term, the visitor will offer Ling 217: Phonetics and Phonology, a second-level course. In the spring term, the visitor will offer Ling 317: Topics in Phonology, our highest level phonology course, plus a second course chosen in consultation with members of the program. The candidate should be committed to excellence in teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment. We particularly seek applicants interested in teaching a diverse student body.
Carleton College is a small, highly selective liberal arts college 45 miles south of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The Linguistics Program is small, but exuberant. It regularly sends students to a wide range of postgraduate activity, including prominent graduate schools in linguistics.
Salary is competitive, and based on experience. The position includes benefits, such as health care. Please send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, and a one-page statement of ideas for the courses to:
