At Carleton I focused on linguistics in Mandarin Chinese. For my comps I went to kindergartens in Fenyang, Shanxi Province China to collect data. My topic was the acquisition of the distinction between asking and telling in Mandarin. I am currently traveling on a Watson Fellowship studying Chinese music in diaspora.
