I graduated in 2002, and double majored in cognitive science (special major) and psychology, and concentrated in women's and gender studies. I did my cog sci comps on bilingual lexical structure, based on the idea that the common "one lexicon or two?" question is a misleading one to ask. I suggested that organization of the bilingual lexicon(s) is greatly dependant on external factors, and I discussed the effects of some those potential factors. After Carleton, I attended graduate school in linguistics at the University of Oregon for a little while, and am currently applying to graduate school in cognitive psychology where I hope to continue to study language and memory. I also sometimes use my skills from linguistics when I teach Russian at Concordia Language Villages in the summer, since I grew up speaking both English and Russian. In the meantime, I'm using that psychology degree and working as a research assistant at the Oregon Social Learning Center on the Oregon Youth Study, a 21 year longitudinal study which has a 99% participant retention rate!
