Andrew Fink

Andrew Fink - Andrew graduated in 2004 with a major in physics. His comps, "A Physicist's Guide to the Ear", focused on biophysical models of the hearing system. He is particularly interested in how we process the complex sound signals that occur in speech, both from an auditory and cognitive perspective and has done extensive study in Linguistics, Neurobiology, and Mathematics to supplement his work in the Physics Department. In the academic year 2004-2005 he will do research in neurolinguistics at the Universität Potsdam as a Fulbright Fellow, where he will work with linguists and physicists conducting electro-encephalographic investigation of brain activity during language processing.

Ellen Acree

Ellen Acree - Ellen graduated in 2004 with a special major combining biology and linguistics. The title of her comps was "The Basal Ganglia and the Supplementary Motor Area: Motor Sequencing and its Role in Speech." She has been accepted to the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health and will enter in the fall of 2005. She plans to continue pursuing her interest in Linguistics, possibly in the field of neurology. Before medical school, Ellen is moving to Ireland for a year to work and travel.
