* A paramajor is someone who has taken several linguistics courses and is writing a linguistics-related comps project with official supervision from Linguistics Department faculty, but is not an official linguistics major.

** A major-in-waiting is somebody who has declared their intention to major in linguistics, but is not yet officially recognized by the Registrar as doing so, usually because they are first or second year students.
