The picture shows the cover of Marquis de l’Hospital’s book Analyse des Infiniment Petits, which was published in 1696. Although it was the first Calculus textbook ever written, it has never been translated into English. With the help of a variety of students of French and Mathematics, faculty member Sam Patterson is engaged in a long-term project to produce the first-ever English translation of this masterpiece.
