The Carleton Combinatorics Group
During the Summer of 2009 three students worked with faculty member Eric Egge on problems in combinatorics. Alex Fisher '10 worked on generalizing Stirling number identities to Legendre-Stirling numbers, while Landon Chan '11 and Erin Jones '12 studied functions on Young's lattice which are related to the Bergeron-Garsia nabla operator on symmetric functions. In this picture we see (from left to right) Alex, Erin, and Landon; the blackboard contains some work related to Erin and Landon's project.
