The Study of Jewish Ethics: Where have we come? Where are we going?

Sun, October 30, 2016 • 3:00pm - 4:45pm (1h 45m) • Boliou Hall #104

Panelists on Jewish Ethics: Elliot Dorff (Am.Jewish U.), Geoffrey Claussen '01 (Elon U.), Emily Filler (Earlham College), reception follows.

The Religion Department and the College will honor Louis Newman for the 33+ years he was at Carleton as a devoted teacher, scholar, mentor and colleague by hosting a panel of experts in Jewish Studies, with support from the Forkosh Family Fund.  Louis began his new position at Stanford directing undergraduate advising and research.

Louis was extraordinarily devoted to Carleton and to Carleton students, transforming lives through his courses in ethics and Jewish Studies and in his mentorship. He recently led the College as Director of the Learning and Teaching Center and as Associate Dean of the College.

Please join us in celebrating Louis’s remarkable career at Carleton by attending a panel discussion featuring the 3 notable scholars (mentioned above) on Jewish Ethics from 3-4:45pm on Sunday, October 30th in Boliou Hall #104, followed by a reception.

We want to present Louis with a memory book of tributes, memories, photos, cards, or notes as a keepsake gift to him. Please send your tribute/memory to Sandy Saari at (ssaari@carleton.edu)
