Alumni/Faculty Recital: David McFerrin, baritone, Kenneth Huber,Kenneth Huber, pianist
David Lemly McFerrin, baritone, (and former Carleton music major, Class of 2001), joins his former piano professor Kenneth Huber to perform Schubert's monumental song cycle Die Schöne Müllerin. In a relatively short time since his graduation from Carleton, Mr. McFerrin has established himself as a most successful young singer performing on such stages as the Santa Fe, Central City, and Florida Grand Operas, and is now a member of the Juilliard Opera Center in New York City. Die Schöne Müllerin is an epic cycle of twenty songs tracing a young man's romantic journey from infatuation to despair. A discussion offering a musical and psychological analysis of this beloved work will precede the recital and will include faculty members Patricia Kent and Kenneth Huber (music department) and Julie Klassen (German department.) Don't miss this opportunity to hear our distinguished alumnus in an evening of compelling music making! Pre-concert discussion 7 pm
