Concert Hall & Practice Rooms

Our concert hall seats 500 people. The lower level features a large rehearsal room, the Instrument Library, ensemble rooms, and eleven practice rooms. The principal teaching facilities are in the Music Hall, which contains two classrooms, twelve studios, practice rooms, and and the Music Resource Center, which holds the CD and score collections and listening facilities.

The concert hall contains a 55-rank Holtkamp organ, a Van Daalen Positiv organ, and two Steinway concert grand pianos. In addition, there is a large four-manual organ in the Chapel, as well as an additional practice organ.

The Department of Music does not guarantee storage space for any equipment and/or instruments that a student may choose to bring to the Carleton campus.

Keys to locked practice rooms are available to students officially registered in applied music courses. Access to the Department's limited MIDI Lab computers is reserved for Music majors and students currently enrolled in specific Music Department courses.
