NEW STUDENT PIANO LESSON PLACEMENT/INTERVIEW

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

2:00-4:00 p.m. in Music Hall 313

If you are a new student interested in taking private piano lessons (beginning or advanced) for credit this year, you should register for Music 150 or 150J (1-credit piano). As a new student you will most likely start with a half-hour lesson. After you have registered for all of your classes, you need to fill out a class schedule form. Based on that information, we will be able to assign you a lesson time. Music Schedule Forms can be found online on the Applied Music page, as well as in the front lobby of the Music Hall. Return the form as soon as possible to the Music Office, or save it (your last name.pdf) and send it to nmelvill@carleton.edu.

If you have studied piano for 4 or more years, we would very much like to meet you and briefly get acquainted with you. That opportunity will occur on the date and time shown above, in Music Hall Room 313. Please stop by 313 and sign up for a ten-minute interview. This will be very informal, so if you haven’t practiced all summer (or longer), don’t hesitate. We would enjoy hearing a sample of your playing from one or more of your favorite piano pieces. There will also be a chance to chat briefly so that we will have the opportunity to learn a bit more about your piano background. You will no doubt have questions for us as well, and we shall do our best to answer them. If you have questions about this meeting or the piano lesson program offered at Carleton, please send an email to Nicola Melville (nmelvill@carleton.edu) and she will respond as quickly as possible. We are looking forward to meeting you soon. Good luck with all of the new student activities, and, be sure to stop by Music Hall Room 313 and sign up for a time.
