Eligibility for Off-Campus Study
Eligibility
Carleton students who are in good academic standing and meet the stated program requirements are eligible to apply for off-campus study. The College looks for assurances that studying off-campus will not interfere with satisfactory progress toward completion of the degree in 12 terms. Affiliated and unaffiliated programs often require a certain GPA; check with the individual program.
OCS programs for Carleton credit are open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Language proficiency varies with the program and the level of instruction. Check with the program.
Your Academic Adviser
Note: Your academic adviser's signature is required on the Off-Campus Studies Petition yellow student review form. Sophomores must also procure the signature of the department chair in their intended major to ensure that off-campus studies will not impede progress in their major.
Review your progress on distribution requirements with your academic adviser. Also review the requirements needed to complete your major. If you haven't yet declared a major, consider how an off-campus study program might help or hinder your selection of a major or area of concentration.
