You are responsible for carrying health insurance while abroad. First, check with your own health insurance company to see if you are covered while traveling overseas and the terms of that coverage. Carleton-administered health insurance can be purchased by the term and does cover students for travel abroad. The Wellness Center has additional information on this program.

For non-Carleton programs, travel and health insurance may be available through your program sponsor. If you need to purchase additional travel health insurance for a Carleton or non-Carleton program, you may do so through the Wellness Center or a travel insurance company such as CISI International.

If you are studying or traveling during a leave of absence from Carleton, be sure your family health insurance covers you while you're not registered as a full-time student.
