Tools for Choosing a Program
Once you have considered your goals and priorities and learned about the different types of study abroad programs, you are ready to begin searching for programs.
- On-line: Check out the OCS programs page to see the list of current Carleton seminars, Affiliated programs, and search engines for Unaffiliated programs.
- Talking to people: Many individuals at Carleton, faculty, staff, and students, have studied abroad or off-campus. Talk to your advisers and professors, fellow students in your major, and friends who have gone on a program or are planning to go off-campus to learn about their experiences and get their recommendations.
- The OCS Office: The OCS office in Leighton 119 maintains a library of catalogs and brochures from many program providers. We also have travel books, videos, and other materials to help you in your search. An OCS adviser can help you define your goals, assist you in your program search, and respond to questions and concerns as you plan your off-campus study. OCS advisers are generally availabe in the afternoons by appointment or on a walk-in basis.
