The program is designed for students majoring in architecture, interior design, interior architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, and graphic design. The Studio core course and study tours will expand your professional skills and knowledge through interaction with Danish architects and designers; familiarize you with contemporary Danish, Scandinavian, and European architecture, design, and theory; enable you to recognize and analyze the effects of cultural, economic, and political life on architecture and design, and vice versa.

The core course and study tours offer you: insight into biotechnology-based methods for diagnosis and treatment of disease; an understanding of the dynamics of drug discovery and development; and an interdisciplinary perspective on how biotech research and biotech business work together.

This program is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in media, journalism, mass communication, advertising or related fields. You will gain: an understanding of the background and implications of current changes within the global mass media industry, valuable insight into the European news and media scene provided by professionals in the field, behind-the-scene glimpses of some of Europe's largest and most influential media conglomerates, and international professional experience and skills that will increase your competitiveness in the global job market.

The European Humanities program is home to a broad array of unique courses in history, literature, art, music, cultural theory, religion and philosophy. The course selection is designed to allow students the greatest degree of academic independence and individual focus. Students will learn about European history and culture by focusing on how selective ways of remembering Europe’s past – the rich as well as tragic heritage — has shaped collective and individual identities. Essential aspects of the course are explored on site through academic tours in Denmark and Germany, France, or the Czech Republic. These countries are viewed as case studies in which to unravel the complex web of identity formation and help answer how identity is shaped by repositories of memory and meaning: landscapes and cityscapes, art and architecture, literature and film.

This program is designed for students seeking to gain: a solid knowledge of the European Union (EU), its institutions, governance, policies, and significance for European integration; theoretical and hands-on insight into the processes that shape European politics – and politics in general; an understanding of Europe’s position and aspirations in international politics.

TOGETHER ... the core course and study tours will: give a toolbox of analytical frameworks and economic theories of international trade; significantly increase your understanding of the international institutions and organizations which regulate trade and economic activity; significantly increase your ability to apply theories to analyze the main features of globalization using real world examples.

The International Business & Economics program is designed for students majoring in business, economics, or related fields. It offers you: the ability to understand and analyze how businesses operate and create value in the European and global marketplace; hands-on insight into the European corporate world through cases with real companies and business visits in Denmark and Europe; a solid knowledge of the European business environment, including the EU laws and institutions which regulate business practices and trade; an understanding of the forces behind globalization through theories of trade, capital markets, and economic development.

From the fall 2011 semester, the European Politics & Society program divides into two separate programs, Justice & Human Rights and European Politics. Justice & Human Rights is designed for students of political science, international relations, law/pre-law, human rights and similar fields. The core course and study tours will provide you with a thorough understanding of the legal aspects and political context behind major human rights violations in Europe.

The Medical Practice & Policy program is designed for students with a serious, documented interest in medicine and have the required science background. The core course and study tours offer you a unique clinical course for pre-med students, not available in the US, valuable hands-on medical experience such as patient cases and clinical lab exercises, and insight into clinical practices and health provision in countries other than the US.

The core course and study tours will develop and expand your professional skills and knowledge of 3-dimensional design through interaction with Danish architects and designers; familiarize you with contemporary Danish, Scandinavian, and European architecture, design, and theory; enable you to recognize and analyze the effects of cultural, economic, and political life on architecture and design, and vice versa; and help you build a network of friends and professional contacts in the field of Architecture and Design. The Architecture & Design program offers the following semester and full-year pre-architecture tracks: Architecture, Interior Architecture, Urban Design.

Psychology at DIS will introduce you to recent developments and research in the area of positive psychology, including the impact of genetic (‘nature’) and environmental (‘nurture’) factors on happiness. Explore constructs of well-being and happiness as well as ways in which positive emotions influence cognition, health, wealth, and social relationships. Examine why Denmark routinely tops the lists of happiest places in the world!

The Public Health program is designed for students exploring career opportunities in public health, either from a policy, sociology, or pre-med background. The core course and study tours offer you a Northern European perspective on salient aspects of public health, e.g. prevention, health promotion and quality improvement, an understanding of the challenges of health policy making, prioritization, and health economics, and the ability to derive comparative insight from analysis of different national health care systems.

The Science & the Environment program allows you to explore climate change and other environmental issues by learning from climate history. You will develop deeper knowledge of climate history in order to understand climate change theory, and you will also examine how civilization has played a critical role in creating the earth we live on today.

The Sociology program presents you with both first-hand and analytical insight into the relation between cultural diversity and social capital in Europe and Turkey. In this context, you will do research on phenomena such as globalization, immigration, integration, social cohesion, struggles for recognition and the limits of tolerance.

The Sustainability in Europe program is designed for students of environmental studies, environmental science, management, public policy, and students generally interested in environmental affairs. The core course and study tours will enhance your understanding of the divergent goals and processes connected with sustainable development. You will be introduced to a broad range of Danish and European stakeholders currently shaping the sustainability agenda, and encouraged to identify your own values and strategies for a sustainable future.
