Oral comps presentations are video-recorded and posted to a network folder named 'phas_comps' (similar to the Home, Collab, and Courses folders) .  This folder is accessible only to Carleton Students, Faculty, and Staff.

Note that due to space considerations, 'phas_comps' will be emptied at the end of the school year.  Feel free to make your own copy, but do not post it to the internet -- many oral presentations contain copyrighted content that is OK to use in a restricted setting but might attract unwelcome attention, even though protected by "Fair Use" laws, if made available to the general public.

Below are the Mac and Windows specific instructions for accessing the folder.  Please contact Bruce Duffy if you cannot access the folder.

Mac instructions

On macs, this storage location can by accessed via the 'Finder' app.

Click on the desktop background, and select 'Go->Connect to Server' (or just press the <command> and 'k' key at the same time when Finder is the active app).  When you do so, the 'Connect to Server' window pops up and asks you to type in the server address.

Type in 'afp://storageserver1.ads.carleton.edu/phas_comps' (w/o the quotes) and then hit the return key or select the 'Connect' button.  You will then be asked to type in your Carleton login credentials.  After you do that the folder containing the PHAS comps movies should appear.

Windows instructions

On a Win7 box, the storage location can be accessed via the 'Map Network Drive' app.

Click on the 'Computer' icon in your Start menu

Select 'Map Network Drive'

In the 'Map Network Drive' window, choose a drive letter to map to (the preselected default is fine) and then in the 'Folder' type-in field, enter:

    \\storageserver1.ads.carleton.edu\phas_comps

Deselect the 'Reconnect at logon' checkbox.

Select 'Connect using a different user name'

Select the 'Finish' button.

When prompted for your login credentials, enter your Carleton login credentials, prefixing your Carleton id with 'ads.carleton.edu\'.  For example, if your Carleton id is 'doej', you would enter 'ads.carleton.edu\doej' as the user id.

The folder containing the PHAS comps movies should appear.
