The Physics of Medical Imaging: X-Ray and Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Medical imaging is one of the most useful and profound areas of technology in the modern age. Without it we would not be able to accurately and quickly diagnose illnesses and injuries without resorting to surgery. In my talk I discuss the history, development, and use of two common types of diagnostic imaging: the X-Ray and Magnetic Resonance Imagining. I explore their differences and their similarities, from the physical laws governing their use to their ability to distinguish between different bodily structures. Lastly, I will cover the potential safety hazards associated with each procedure.
