Emphasis will be placed on the story of the so-called PIIGS - Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, and Spain - and their role in precipitating the crisis, making it worse, but also being victimized by some of the "solutions." Germany, France, the European Central Bank, the credit rating agencies, and sovereign bond holders are supporting players in this drama who have contributed with missteps of their own. Prof. Montero will also explore future scenarios for improvements in conditions as well as worst-case possibilities. The talk will be followed by a conversation with the audience.
