Welcome to the Office of Pre-Health Professions Advising

The Office of Pre-Health Advising is part of the Academic Division (Office of the Provost) and is here to provide support and advice for students and alumni who are considering a career in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and other health professions. Each year about 50 Carleton students and alumni apply to medical school, 2–3 to dental school, 0–2 to veterinary school, and a few more to other programs such as public health, physical therapy, and nursing.

Pam Middleton is the Pre-Health Advisor, and we strongly encourage you to meet with her early in your Carleton career, or as soon as you realize that medicine might be the career for you. Pam will provide resources and guidance to help you to decide if this is the right path, and will lead you through the process of preparing for professional school.

In addition to Pam, there is an active student-led organization, the Carleton Pre-Health Association (CPA). The CPA is the largest organization of students interested in pursuing health-based careers on campus. Dedicated to helping pre-med students of all backgrounds reach their career goals, CPA seeks to provide Carls with a supportive community of peers, a multitude of volunteer opportunities, and seminars with healthcare professionals and medical students. They also aim to increase awareness at Carleton about health disparity issues, both domestically and internationally.
