Welcome to the Office of Pre-Health Professions Advising
The Office of Pre-Health Advising is here to provide support and advice for students and alumni who are considering a career in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and other health professions. Each year about 50 Carleton students/alumni apply to medical school, 2-3 to dental school, 0-2 to veterinary school, and a few more to other programs such as public health, physical therapy and nursing.
Pam Middleton is the Pre-health advisor, and it is strongly encouraged that you meet with her early in your Carleton career, or as soon as you realize that medicine might be the career for you. Pam will provide resources and guidance to help you to discern if this is the right path, and will lead you through the process of preparing for professional school.
In addition to Pam, the Carleton Pre-health Association (CPA) is a campus student organization that serves as a resource of admission and advising of pre-health information. One of their goals is to create a supportive community for all students interested in the health professions, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing, allied health and public health. Another of their goals is to increase the awareness of and exposure to the health professions for minority undergraduate students. To learn more about the CPA, please visit their website.
