The AAMC

All 126 accredited U.S. allopathic medical schools, the 16 accredited Canadian allopathic medical schools, over 400 teaching hospitals, and the faculty and students of these institutions are represented by the Association of American Medical Colleges. The AAMC is responsible for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). The Student Application Services are an important resource of the Association.

The AACOM

All 21 accredited U.S. osteopathic medical schools are represented by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine.

Most medical schools have their own Home Pages on the web. One example is University of Minnesota Medical School Home Page.

Other health professions have their own associations:

  • Application process

Carleton's Pre-Med advisor and Pre-Med Committee can serve as excellent intermediates for the medical school application process. They collect and file incoming recommendations throughout the student's Carleton career, they perform mock med-school interviews, and they often serve as primary letter writers.
