Points to Remember:

1. keep all application materials together; devise a useful filing system (pre-med advisor can do this for you);

2. keep records of all that you do;

3. keep photocopies of all that you send;

4. acquire as much information as possible;

5. keep up on the news;

6. check completeness of your application file, especially if you have not heard from a school;

7. recognize that you may be on a wait-list up to the very time a medical school starts;

8. don’t make assumptions about what is happening - ask;

9. be very clear in your requests of the Committee and its Chair when the time comes;

10. consider osteopathic medical schools if the underlying philosophy is acceptable to you;

11. be aware that almost all schools accept a six-credit Carleton science course with lab as the equivalent of a five credit semester course for purposes of meeting admission requirements; (This does not alter point 4 under AMCAS above.)

12. don’t make assumptions about what is happening. Find out.
