Ragamala’s Artistic Directors Ranee and Aparna Ramaswamy showcase the infinite scope of Bharatanatyam, the classical dance of southern India, from the grace and power of the traditional solo performance to the beauty and vitality of the company’s ensemble. Written and directed by master storyteller Zaraawar Mistry and set to an original score by virtuoso vocalist Prema Ramamurthy and the great classical violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam, Sthree is a haunting contemporary adaptation that explores the underlying tension between the principles of karma and dharma, the basis of the Hindu belief system.
