Parish House is home to the languages. Housing space is currently allocated for Russian, German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese. The Language Departments provide various programs and activities that not only allow the students to speak the language but to learn more about the culture of the country. The College employs Language Associates from the various countries to reside in the houses. Living together allows you to speak your selected language on a daily basis with individuals of different abilities and backgrounds. It also is a way to experience culture through activities (i.e. meals together, films, radio shows, dancing, language tables, etc.) To achieve these goals you need to be willing to participate and cooperate with a positive attitude. Each resident is asked to support house activities, commit to helping with activities and to keep the house presentable for guests.

Each language will have a faculty advisor who will participate in the selection process of occupants, help with activities and be a guide for any concerns or questions that may arise. House residents will be selected through an application and interview process that includes the faculty advisor (applications are available in the middle of winter term for the following year)

Parish consists of doubles, triples and quads (NO SINGLES). Normally Spanish is housed together, Germans housed together, etc. Every effort is made to place a single language in a room, but occasionally we must mix languages. You are expected to participate in at least one activity a week and help the language associate with big events.

Often times beginning and intermediate Spanish classes will be held in Parish for a cultural event (usually involves food!)
