Description
The Carleton College yearbook documents the life of the college. Named for the variable star, Algol, it was first published in 1889 by the Class of 1890. While the Algol appeared sporadically during its early years, it became an annual volume starting in 1923. From the inaugural volume:
To you Wise Men who run the College,--
To the Faculty, who keep it going,--
To the Old Students and all Friends,
Who want to see it booming,--
To the Alumni of the College,
Who are making for it a name,--
To all the Students who now are in it,
Who will try to do the same,--
To all the people in the world
Who seventy-five cents will pay,
We dedicate, for all its worth,
This VARIABLE STAR, to-day.
