DESCRIPTION:In addition to his work on "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, Barrie Osborne 
 was executive producer for the worldwide box office blockbuster and groundb
 reaking special effects award-winner "The Matrix". A 1966 Carleton graduate
 , Osborne entered the film industry in 1970 as an apprentice editor and ass
 istant production manager. Accepted into the Directors Guild of America tra
 inee program, Osborne worked under the tutelage of directors such as Franci
 s Ford Coppola, Alan Pakula and Sydney Pollack. Osborne will talk about the
  role of special effects in advancing a narrative in his presentation on "S
 torytelling and Technology." Seating is limited and priority will be given 
 to Carleton students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
