March 1st, 2005
This story is provided by Carleton News
Carleton students will hold the College's fourth annual DVD Fest at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, in Carleton’s Concert Hall.
Junior Michael Moore has organized this event for the last three months in association with the Carleton Macintosh User Group (CarlMug), which he co-founded last year. Moore coordinated with the College's media services office, media relations, the Dean of Students office and residential life to make this year's festival a big success. Apple Computer, Inc. provided additional sponsorship, and access to 10 iBook G4 computers. Approximately 20 films will be shown at the premiere night, all submitted by Carleton students.
About DVD Fest:
DVD Fest is an annual student film festival held at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Each year, all Carleton students are welcome and encouraged to participate in the festival. Apple computers are distributed to the students, and students are given digital video cameras to make short films using Apple's iMovie software. Films are then judged following a public showing, and winning films are awarded prize money and are invited to compete in a regional competition.
