She founded and serves as campaign director for the White Earth Land Recovery Project, a reservation-based land acquisition, environmental advocacy and cultural organization. Barack Obama is a civil rights attorney, author, lecturer, community development specialist, the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review, and an Illinois state senator. He was the Convocation Speaker for Black History Month at Carleton College's Skinner Memorial Chapel on February 5, 1999.
